"Unknown Treasure" WWII Army Uniform

Description

WWII army costume from an unknown production. This five-piece ensemble includes a jacket, shirt, pair of pants, helmet, and necktie.

Jacket: Green single breasted army jacket with three gold buttons with the seal of the United States on each button. Jacket has peaked lapels and two flapped breast pockets and side pockets, each with the same gold button with seal of the United States.  Jacket has green belt around the waist with gold buckle and multi-colored military ribbons on proper left side above break pocket. Ranking chevron strips on proper left sleeve. Gold-toned "U.S." pin on proper left collar. Epaulettes on both shoulders with a four silver star pin attached. Interior tag on proper left side reads "Morris Angel & Son, Ltd. / THEATRICAL COSTUMES / 119, SHAFTESBURY AVENUE LONDON W.C.2. / MR. GEORGE E. SCOTT MAY 85."

Shirt: Tan colored button-up long sleeve shirt with two button breast pockets. Interior tags on neckline read "CE404", "ME447" and "ANGELS / The Costumiers to the Entertainment Industry / 119 Shaftesbury Avenue, Cambridge Circus, London WC2H8AE". Last button is unlike rest of buttons.

Pants: Men's tan flat-front military slacks with side-slit pockets at the hips, a small slit pocket at the proper right side of the front waistband, and two button flap pockets on the seat. The waistband has a zipper and hook closure at the front. Written on interior waistband is "32 w x 31 L / CANNON". Interior labels read "Bermans + Nathans / 40 CAMDEN ST., / LONDON N.W.I / O.L. 43 I.L. 32 / Waist 32 seat 38 / 3109 Hanover St." and "STIV."

Helmet: Metal helmet with four star appliqué on front of crown. Plastic interior piece with straps throughout that form to fit the head, main center strap is covered with leather material. Writing at back of that strap appears to read "GEORGE C. SCOTT". Two stickers on interior that read "4/4 7/3" and what looks like "66".

Necktie: Tan-colored tie.

Condition

Jacket: Visible fraying threads along bottom edge of jacket and belt.

Shirt: Loose threads around interior tag. Visible pinholes throughout back. Light creases throughout.

Pants: Very minor damage to the bottom of the proper right pant leg, on front - possibly from insects. Interior waistband is yellowing, likely just from age.

Helmet: Interior has strong off-gassing smell. Loss of material on interior edge of helmet. Slight tarnishing on exterior.

Necktie: Minor creases from where tie was tied. No other signs of damage. Small stain at wider part of tie, proper left side.
