F.A.Q - Frequently Asked Questions
Thank you for shopping at Planet Hollywood Vault. Below you'll find some of our most asked questions.
Is there a buyer's premium?
- No, there is not a buyer's premium. If an item is won at auction, or purchased directly, only the item's price, applicable taxes, and the shipping fee is charged.
- In an auction, a reserve price is the amount bidding must reach before an item is sold. If a reserve price is not met, the item is not sold during that auction. For example: if an item has a reserve price of $300, a $300 bid must be made for that item to sell. Otherwise, the item is removed with a chance of availability at a future date. A bid of $200, in this example, would not be enough to win the item.
How do you decide the amount of the reserve prices?
- The Team at Planet Hollywood Vault is comprised of memorabilia experts with years of experience working with auction houses and unique collections. We also use external appraisers to determine the current value in our collection.
What happens to the auction items that are unsold?
- Most of the items that do not sell in an auction are moved to our "Second Chances" area. For the duration of the following month's auction, these items are listed with their reserve price. Please e-mail us at Vault@PlanetHollywoodIntl.com to make an offer. After the following month's auction is over, these items are removed from the site.
When do you list new items?
- We normally add auction items at the beginning of each month. The starting date of each auction is announced on social media. "Buy Now" items are added each week on the day of the week the auction for that month falls on. (If the auction is in on a Wednesday, items are added on Wednesdays of that month leading up to the auction.) All additions to the store occur at 12:00 EDT or EST, and the auctions also begin and end at noon.
If an item is won at auction, when does it have to be paid?
- Items won at one of our auctions must be paid within 48 hours. After that time, the item is offered to the runner-up at their bid, as long as the runner-up's bid has met the reserve. If there is no runner-up that meets this qualification, or the runner-up does not pay within 48 hours of their offer, the item is removed with a chance of availability at a future date.
- The Planet Hollywood collection is a private collection. The memorabilia sold through this site is just a small portion of the massive collection. We cannot divulge contents of the collection outside of what is listed due to privacy. Plus, it would just take too long to list that many items!
Can you sell my movie memorabilia for me? Can I sell some Planet Hollywood items to you?
- We're not like the other sites. All of the items we sell are part of the Planet Hollywood collection. We do not do consignments or purchases of any kind through the Planet Hollywood Vault.
Are these props and costumes screen used or screen matched?
- Unless otherwise noted, our items were obtained by (or created by) the productions of their respective films. We do our best to find an example of every prop and costume we list through screenshots. However, as a rule, we do not confirm if any item is screen used or matched as we always err on the side of caution. The only time we will list an item as screen used, is if we have a written statement or certificate from the item's origin stating it as such.
Are these the real deal? How do we know these items are legit?
- Our items have been part of the Planet Hollywood collection. The collection has been acquired from multiple sources over the last 30 years. We have acquired items from movie studios, actors, producers, auction houses, and more. If an item is unknown, or a replica, we will state this in the heading and/or description of each item. Plus, every item comes with a Planet Hollywood Certificate of Authenticity.
