Description

Acquired by the production for use in "The Canterville Ghost" (TV Movie) (1986) for John Gielgud's portrayal of "Sir Simon de Canterville" aka "The Ghost." Blue velvet robe with gray fur trim around collar, cuffs, and center edges of panels. Inside of robe is lined with purple/blue satin fabric. Cream tag sewn onto lining with text reading "Bermans & Nathans / 40 CAMDEN ST. / LONDON N.W.1 / SIR JOHN GIELGUD / 4383 double / CANTERVILLE GHOST." Sleeves of robe are wide and have large slit in front.

Condition

Bottom edge is worn and dirty from use in movie. Hem coming apart on proper left panel and on back. Dark stains near bottom edge on back towards the proper right.
