"Star Trek: The Motion Picture" Metal Lunchbox and Thermos

Description

Acquired from Christie's South Kensington, merchandising tie-in lunchbox and Thermos featuring "Star Trek: The Motion Picture" (1979).

Lunchbox: Metal lunchbox with a hinged lid and a purple plastic handle. The lunchbox has an image on the front of the faces of William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy in their roles as Captain Kirk and Spock, with a background of space and stars, with the word "THERMOS" in the bottom proper left corner, and a sticker of a clown that reads "NEW / Flip 'n' Sip / TOP/ INSIDE". The back of the lunchbox shows Spock, Captain Kirk, and Dr. McCoy (DeForest Kelley), and reads "STAR TREK / THE MOTION PICTURE" across the top and "THERMOS" in the bottom proper left corner. The top of the lunchbox reads "Copyright (c) 1979 / Paramount Pictures Corporation / All Rights Reserved / TM Designates Trademark of / Paramount Pictures Corporation / This Product Manufactured by / King-Seeley Thermos Co. under Exclusive / License from Paramount Pictures Corp. / The Trademark Owner." near the handle. The sides of the lunchbox are decorated with images and characters from the movie. Back edge reads "THERMOS DIVISION / KING-SEELEY THERMOS CO.".

Thermos: Light blue plastic thermos with a white plastic lid. The side reads "STAR TREK" in a dark blue rectangle, with an abstract image of the Enterprise spaceship, and reads below that "Copyright (c) 1979 / Paramount Pictures Corporation". The lid reads "THERMOS" on the top.

Includes Planet Hollywood Certificate of Authenticity.

Condition

Lunchbox: Minor rusting along edges, primarily on bottom. Some loss of the outer layer around rusty spots. Top proper left corner is dented. The sticker on the front is slightly worn away.

Thermos: Minor scuffs on the surface.
