"Johnny Mnemonic" Prop Police Shield

Description

Created by the production for use in "Johnny Mnemonic" (1995). Beijing police shield made of acrylic. Shield portion is clear with a blue sticker applied to the majority of the obverse. Sticker has black text in English that reads "POLICE" with silver Chinese characters on the bottom half. Reverse of shield has a large strip of black foam horizontally across the center. There is a silver metal handle on the proper right side over the foam, and a black strap on the proper left side over the foam. The strap is adjustable. The handle and the strap are bolted to the shield with the opposite sides of the bolts protruding from the obverse.

Condition

The shield is heavily scratched on the obverse. Obverse center is covered in a sticky residue. A piece of paper was stuck to it at one time and remnants of paper are stuck throughout adhesive covered area. The foam on the reverse has lost chunks of it over time. The strap is warped.
