"Independence Day" Flying Saucer Hat and Vest

Description

Created for the production of "Independence Day" (1996), for an extra to wear near the beginning of the film when the arrival of the aliens was being celebrated. Costume includes a large hat made to look like a flying saucer, and a matching vest.  Hat is made out of shiny purple material with a clear plastic deli tray lid on top.  Several circular-shaped pieces of plastic are adhered to give the illusion of lights on the saucer. Yellow hardhat under fabric to fit on wearer’s head. The vest is shiny and purple with cap sleeves that sit on top of the arm and are open below.  Black satin lining.  No closure points.

Includes Planet Hollywood Certificate of Authenticity.

Mannequins not included.

Condition

Hat: Plastic lid is crushed in several locations.  Black accretions throughout fabric.  Bottom portion of saucer is pulling away from the body of the hat with small tears in fabric.

Vest: Light fading on interior lining at neckline.
