"Coming to America" Wedding Guest Dress

Description

Pastel blue dress and headdress created by the production for use in "Coming to America" (1988) for a guest at Prince Akeem's wedding seen at the end of the film. 

Includes Planet Hollywood Certificate of Authenticity.

Mannequin not included.

Dress: Pastel blue dress with puffy sleeves, empire waist and decorative pattern throughout. Dress has pleated short skirt over of the longer pencil skirt.  Embroidered flower design throughout. Zipper closure on back.  Costume tag sewn into interior has text that reads “The Quest / SIZE 14 / A. SANUSI”. ("The Quest" was the working title for "Coming to America".)

Headdress: Headdress in pastel blue with floral embroidery. Headdress is gathered in the front and proper left side so that it sits high atop the wearer's head.  White felt lining.  White tag sewn into lining has red text that reads "CTG".  Written in red marker on tag is "M". Written in black ink above tag reads “DONNA / BELL”.

Condition

Dress: Light yellow staining under each arm on front of neckline, and on the bottom front edge of the short skirt. Color slightly faded around bottom edges of the long skirt.

Headdress: Headdress is misshapen around the bottom edge from improper storage. Light yellowing along sides around bottom.
