I'm a collector, and I've been collecting for over thirty years. In fact, from my experience, most people collect things. Some of us collect stamps, comic books, or maybe even popcorn buckets. Many of the visitors to this site collect movie memorabilia. But one thing that is true of most collectors is we like to share our collections with others. We like to say, "Behold! My stuff!"
This is nothing new, of course. Modern museums evolved from personal "Cabinets of Curiosities" that were popular in Europe starting in the late 16th century. These rooms may have contained artwork, preserved animals, or historical artifacts, but the spirit of the room was the same then as it is now: I'm proud of my collection, and it feels good to share it.
It's part of who we are. When you were a child, how many of you wanted to show off your bedroom to a guest, or show a new toy to a friend or relative? Our collections make us happy, and when we're happy we want to share that.
There have been many times over the years when we have received e-mails from collectors who want to share their collections with us. A shipment arrives from "the Vault," they unbox it and display it, and then they send us a photograph of how it looks in its new home. We're always happy to see how happy we've made collectors!
We want to give movie memorabilia collectors an opportunity to share their collections with us and with fellow collectors through the Planet Hollywood Vault!
We would absolutely love it if you would show the new additions from Planet Hollywood Vault in your collections, (and we totally encourage it) but that's not what this is about. Maybe you have a huge collection of Sylvester Stallone memorabilia. Maybe you have three items from your favorite movie that mean a lot to you. Maybe you're Peter Jackson and have one of the most amazing collections in the world (seriously, if you haven't seen it, Google it).
