Description

Created by the production for "Young Bess" (1953), this sketch depicts a costume designed by Walter Plunkett for Charles Laughton's portrayal of "King Henry VIII." Obtained from Sotheby's, this is an original color costume sketch of the character wearing a long white night shirt and cap. Sketch is on artist's board in pencil and gouache. Sketch for costume embroidering on proper left, adjacent to figure. Artist's signature is located at bottom proper right.

Includes Planet Hollywood Certificate of Authenticity.

Condition

Accretions by the feet and legs of the drawing. The edges on the front are stained a light brown. Tape and tape residue along the edges of the back from prior frame removal.
