"Unknown Treasure" Yellow Dress with Two Layers

Description

Two-piece dress from an unknown production circa 1930.  Costume consists of a mesh dress and a silk dress worn under the mesh dress.

Mesh Dress: Yellow mesh dress with horizontal stripes throughout, ruffle neckline, and yellow sequin on obverse of neckline. Proper left side has button closure.

Silk Dress: Yellow silk dress with spaghetti straps, bead and lace trim along top edge, and tulle ruffle trim at bottom. Proper left side of dress has snap button closure. Tag at interior top edge of proper left of reverse reads “GINGER ROGERS _3195_”. Handwritten text on interior of closure reads “Ginger Rogers / 5517-6”.

Condition

Mesh Dress: Color has faded throughout. Small holes throughout.  Light staining along bottom edge and pink stains on obverse of proper left shoulder. Missing sequins on obverse of neckline.

Silk Dress: Tear in obverse center and reverse of neckline and on proper left of chest. Proper left strap has frays throughout and proper right strap has been torn at top and tied back together with frayed ends. Small tears throughout and hole on proper left side seam above tulle. Small brown stains on obverse center.
