"Demetrius and the Gladiators" Grecian Dance Costume

Description

Created by the production for use in "Demetrius and the Gladiators" (1954) for one of the film's dancers. Obtained from the Collection of Motion Picture Costume Design. Grecian style dance costume constructed of white netting over a nude body suit. Outer layer is ornamented at the waist and neckline with beige robing an adorned throughout with clear plastic discs and white flowers. Interior body suit is adorned throughout with white flowers. Proper right side of dress buttons together, while body suit zips up in reverse center.  Handwritten tag on interior of body suit reads “JAN HOLLER 1-25-1-4377 A312-36”, while interior tag below proper left armpit reads “WCS 14”. Slit on obverse of each side of skirt with two floral brass clasps holding slits together.

Condition

Dress and body suit are lightly soiled throughout. Light stain on interior top of the legs of the body suit.
